Why this challenge - 10 Trails over 185 days
I love mountains which is WHY they are the inspiration for my 2025 Linzi Walks challenge - They are our planet's geological giants and if you manage to climb their strength and energy they will gift you the best seats on the planet. So I’m rocking up to 130 of them to dance with the clouds and breathe in the cascading blanket of natural beauty that makes anything feel possible. Crossing through five countries, pushing my limits with my home on my back, wild camping, cooking on campfires and meeting many of you along the way. The moment I discovered the outdoors life and its inspiring community I became part of something far greater than me, I became part of a flowing stream of well-being warriors who enrich daily life. One I’m eternally grateful to every day.
This challenge isn’t just about the mental and physical feat – it’s about inspiring others to rediscover the joy, freedom, and healing power of nature. From the Kintyre Way and Cape Wrath Trail to the Black Mountains Round and Brecon Beacons, I’ll be hiking some of the most beautiful and challenging routes the UK and Europe have to offer. I’ll also be taking on the legendary Wainwrights and the iconic Camino Via Francigena, covering a total of 2,200 miles – the equivalent of 82 marathons.
With an elevation gain of 10 Everest equivalents. Our journey with nature teaches us that the only limits we have are the ones we place upon ourselves. For me, this is about encouraging people to take that first step outside, connect with the natural world, and find a bigger smile waiting at the top of every mountain we may face in life. If I can help one person smile a bigger smile with the sharing of my daily hiking experiences, encounters and learning's on this epic adventure then my purpose in life is being fulfilled.
Each of us will need support & know someone who needs support with their mental health which is why throughout this challenge, I’ll be raising awareness and funds for MIND, a charity dedicated to supporting each of us with our mental health.
Join me on this wild, beautiful journey with nature as I discover new summits, embrace the unexpected, and experience the Extraordinary that lives in the ordinary of our every day lives.
